Kit Smith started Friday Fish a few years ago to offer fish to his friends in the village. The list has grown a little since then but he still adopts the same approach as ever.

‘This all started with the simple request by friends in the village to get hold of some good, well sourced seasonal fish for the weekend. With my interest in supporting the fragile but important Hastings fishery with its sustainable drift nets  and Marine Stewardship Council accreditation, the idea was that we should all be trying to forge a link between the boats and enthusiastic foodies inland. A few names became a few more and requests showed a growing interest in understanding more about what’s good, what’s bad and a wider concern for the marine environment. So, if by taking Friday Fish formal, working the link between fishermen and consumer whilst offering advice and steering on the whole thorny and often complex subject of sustainability, then our bit is being done.’
